Cause-effect algorithm

Did you use a smartphone, a microwave oven, washing machine, or accessed a website, Facebook, Google search or drove a car today? If yes, then you have encountered an algorithm at least once. Every new piece of technology, whether AI-enabled, 4G or 5 G or otherwise, includes some form of an algorithm.

So, what is an algorithm? It is a set of pre-programmed instructions that enables functioning of gadgets without manual intervention.

Our lives and universe are also governed by some invisible algorithms with clockwork precision. The most important algorithm is the Cause-Effect relationship. There is an underlying cause behind each action. This the Law of Karma, which is at the heart of the spiritual path of Karmyog. Divine actions result in divine results and vice versa. So, whatever we do, either good or bad, comes around sooner or later.

So, who is the key designer of these invisible algorithms? The scriptures describe it to be the Supreme Self, the invisible, infinite and indestructible, life-enlivening principle that is located within ourselves that most of us are ignorant of. The Taittiriya Upanishad, therefore, says that the knower of Brahmn attains the Supreme, which is the ultimate goal of human existence.
