Invest in yourself
As the billionaire chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett is no stranger to giving advice. His number one tip for success is simple: invest in yourself.
“One easy way to become worth 50 percent more than you are now at least is to hone your communication skills — both written and verbal,” Buffett said during a 45-second car interview recently.
The investor is speaking from experience. When he was younger, Buffett was so terrified of public speaking that he enlisted in a Dale Carnegie course to overcome his fear. “If I hadn’t done that, my whole life would be different. So in my office, you will not see the degree I got at the University of Nebraska. You will not see the Master’s Degree I got from Columbia University but you’ll see the award certificate I got from the Dale Carnegie course.” Buffett has, on numerous occasions, credited it with changing his life.
