One of India's best ever ODI players: India was 'very poor' in the field against West Indies!
Yesterday saw Team India swiftly emerging victorious in their first day of the ongoing T20 series against West Indies. Successfully chasing the 207 runs made by the visitors at the at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium by the 19th over, Kohli and his team received applause from the supporters. Moreover, Yuzvendra Chahal became the joint highest wicket taker for India, equaling Ravichandran Ashwin with 52 wickets.
Despite excelling in battling and bowling in the match, the Men in Blues exhibited significant lack of finesse in the fielding department, which the 37 year old found disappointing, to start with.

Shimron Hetmyer, who whacked the ball onto the hands of Rohit Sharma in the 18th over, was the first prey of Chahal on his record making haul. However, the 22 year old was dropped earlier in the 16th over by Washington Sundar. Interestingly, Rohit, who helped Chahal gain his first wicket, also dropped the Windie skipper Pollard.
Yuvraj, who played his last T20 for the country in 2017 against England, was renowned for his prowess as a fielder, and naturally expected to see his compatrioits performing better in the department.
The duo exercised India’s fielding mistakes to their full advantage to soar the final score to 207. Hetymyer scored 56 runs off 41 balls, with 2 fours and 4 sixes, and Pollard with a blistering 37 runs off 19 balls, with 1 four and 4 sixes. However, the latter was bowled out by Chahal in the 18th over.
This was the second highest score West Indies made against India in the T20 format. However, the hosts managed to chase down the score by the 4th ball of 19th over.
The highest credit for the chase goes to Virat Kohli. The Indian Skipper scored a stunning 94 off 50 balls, with 6 four and 6 sixes. With 5 fours and 4 sixes, opener KL Rahul scored 62 runs off 40 balls. Team India keeper Rishab Pant rushed in the latter phase of the chase with 18 runs from 9 balls, with 2 sixes.
The two teams will see each other tomorrow in the second day of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
