How to make Jowar Fritters

Step 1

Add jowar flour to a bowl. Now add asafoetida, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric, ginger paste, black pepper powder, carom seeds, cumin powder and salt. Add water in batches and mix well to prepare a smooth batter of medium-thick consistency.

Step 2

Now peel the potato and chop it into thin slices.

Step 3

Now heat mustard oil in a kadhai and let it reach its smoking point. Once smoke emerges from the oil and it turns slightly lighter in colour, it is ready to be used. Now just dip one potato slice in the batter properly and drop it carefully in the hot oil. Let it deep fry from all sides until golden brown in colour. Repeat the step to make more such fritters.

Step 4

Take out all the fritters on an absorbent paper and serve with mint chutney and tomato ketchup.
