INGREDIENTS

500 gm anchovy fish

1 tablespoon rice flour

2 sprigs curry leaves

2 lemon

0 refined oil as required

0 onion rings as required

8 shallots (small onions)

1/2 inch ginger

10 cloves garlic

2 teaspoon spice chili powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon lime juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon coriander seeds

How to make Netholi Meen Fry

Step 1

Wash and pat dry all the anchovy fish and keep them aside. Now take a grinder and add shallots, ginger, garlic, chili powder, black pepper, turmeric, lime juice, salt and coriander seeds to it. Also add enough amount of water and grind all the ingredients together to make a smooth paste for marination. Now, put the fish in the marinade along with crushed coriander seeds and curry leaves. Keep it aside for around 30 minutes.

Step 2

In the meanwhile, preheat the oil in a wok or a kadhai. Further, take a large mixing bowl, mix rice flour with a small amount of water and stir to make a smooth paste. By now, even the fish would have been marinated as well. Dip the marinated fish into the rice flour paste to give a crispy touch to the dish.

Step 3

Now, put the fish to deep fry over a medium flame until it turns a gorgeous golden brown and crispy. Transfer the fried fishes to an absorbing towel to drain excess oil. Garnish resplendently with lemon wedges and onion rings. Enjoy hot and fresh. (Note: If you like, you can even use coconut oil for frying as it would add an delicious coconut touch to your dish.)
