INGREDIENTS

1 cup grated coconut

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup semolina

1 teaspoon green cardamom

10 raisins

10 cashews

1 cup refined oil

1/2 cup ghee

100 gm refined flour

How to make Semolina Gujiya

Step 1

First of all, take maida in a bowl. Add 1 tbsp oil or ghee and mix it well. Add water as needed to make the dough (just like poori dough). Once the dough is ready, allow it to rest for 1/2 hour.

Step 2

To prepare the stuffing, take a bowl and add grated coconut, powdered sugar, chopped raisins, chopped cashew nuts, cardamom powder, and semolina. Mix well and keep it aside.

Step 3

Again, knead the dough well and make small balls just like the way you make poori. Take a small ball and roll out thin poori. Take a gujiya mold and place the poori in the mold. Put a spoonful of stuffing in the center of the poori. Press it gently. Take out the dough from the sides of the mold. Repeat with other balls and stuffing.

Step 4

Next, heat oil or ghee in a Kadhai, make sure that the quantity of oil or ghee is sufficient to deep fry the gujiyas. Once ready, deep fry gujiya till they turn golden brown in colour both sides.

Step 5

Now, transfer golden brown gujiyas to a serving plate and serve hot!
