Apple interested in buying Manchester United for whopping £5.8 billion: Reports

Despite club football coming to a stop due to the start of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Manchester United have dominated the headlines continuously for the past few days. Recently, they were in the news when they officially put their club up for sale.

Now, there have been many suitors for the legendary football club, right from Jim Ratcliffe to the Crown Prince of Dubai.

However, this time it has been widely reported that tech giants Apple is heavily interested in buying Manchester United from the Glazers for a whopping £5.8 billion. In fact, if this deal does go through, Manchester United will become the richest club in the world.

Apple is the largest tech company in the world. It has an annual revenue of £326 billion and a whopping net worth of £2 trillion. Though the company has no prior experience in owning a football team, CEO Tim Cook is reportedly very interested to purchase the age old English Premier League club.

Manchester United's American owners Joel and Avram Glazer recently released a statement where they hinted that the club is up for sale.

“The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1 billion fans and followers. As we seek to continue building on the Club’s history of success, the Board has authorized a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives. We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximizes the significant growth opportunities available to the Club today and in the future. Throughout this process we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders, and various stakeholders," their official statement read.


Manchester United were also in the news recently after they parted ways with star striker Cristiano Ronaldo following his explosive interview with controversial British journalist Piers Morgan.
