Along with the release of iOS 16.2, Apple added a number of new features. While Advanced Data Protection for iCloud backups gained the most attention, Apple Music Sing is one of those unexpected improvements that are sure to be enjoyable — especially if you enjoy karaoke.

What is Apple Music Sing?

Apple Music Sing allows you to sing along to most songs on Apple Music, with real-time lyrics and adjustable vocal volume. You will effectively have access to a wide archive of music that allows you to take any place you want in the song, whether lead or support singer. You can also sing duets with friends and family.

Apple Music Sing will contain animated lyrics with multiple styles for primary and background vocals, allowing you to get the tempo right when singing.

There's also a Duet View for when a song features many artists. Their lines will be shown on opposing sides of the screen, making it easy to discern who will sing which one.

Who Can Use Apple Music Sing?

There are a few prerequisites for using Apple Music Sing. To begin, you must have a suitable Apple Music membership – either a Student, Individual, or Family plan. Apple Music Sing is not supported by the cheapest $5 Voice Plan.

Second, you'll need a device that's compatible. While Apple Music Sing will be available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, it will not be available for all devices. The whole list is provided below:

iPhone 11 and later, as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation) running the most recent iOS version.

iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later), iPad Air (4th generation and later), iPad mini (6th generation), and iPad (9th generation and after) with the most recent iPadOS version.

Apple TV 4K (3rd gen.) operating on the latest tvOS version.

How To Use Apple Music Sing?

To get started with Apple Music Sing, use the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. After you've opened it, follow the steps below to use the feature:



  • Begin by playing a song from your library.
  • Then, in the left-bottom corner, touch on the Lyrics button, which is marked by double quotes inside a text box.
  • To enable Apple Music Sing, touch on the microphone icon on the right side of your screen, above the music progress bar. You may also adjust the vocal volume with the slider that replaces the button.
