Britney Spears is truly a free woman now! In a latest development, Britney Spears has settled her conservatorship case with her estranged father, Jamie Spears. The singer will no longer have to deal with court proceedings pertaining to her conservatorship case, according to media reports.

“It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears.

Ms. Spears is and always will be an icon and a brilliant and brave artist of historic and epic proportion,” stated Mathew Rosengart, Britney's lawyer, in an exclusive announcement to Page Six on Friday.

“Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete,” he continued.

“As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter.”

For the unversed, Britney Spears' controversial conservatorship was first set up in 2008 by her father Jamie Spears to control Britney's finances, as well as professional, personal, and medical affairs. However, it was terminated in November 2021 after the singer showcased some strong advocacy skills, hired high profile lawyer Rosengart, along with the global support of her fans, who started the hashtag #FreeBritney that quickly went on to become a movement.

“Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored,” Rosengart said.

Post-conservatorship, Britney has released two singles: Hold Me Closer with Elton John, and Mind Your Business, a collaboration with Will.i.am.

In her book, The Woman In Me, Britney described her experience of making Hold Me Closer as a free woman. “Recording ‘Hold Me Closer’ and putting it out into the world was a fantastic experience. It didn’t feel good — it felt great," she wrote.

Although Britney reportedly has to cover Jamie's legal expenses, a source close to the situation revealed that she was pleased with the settlement, as it avoided a trial and kept her out of court.

“Although he was ready to go to trial, Rosengart acted upon her wishes, and she’s thrilled it’s all resolved,” said the insider.

Rosengart expressed gratitude for the chance to assist Britney in regaining her autonomy. “We repeat our gratification for being in a position to help restore the civil rights and liberties of Britney Spears and the honor and privilege it has been to serve and protect Ms Spears and obtain her goals in resolving various legal matters pursuant to her thoughtful and wise instruction and requests, which once again are to her credit,” he said.

In a dramatic court testimony in June 2021, Britney claimed that, under her father’s court-ordered control, she was forced into a mental health facility, prescribed lithium, and had an IUD contraceptive inserted against her will, and all this was after years of working for the financial benefit of Jamie and his associates.
