'Chhati Thok Ke Kahunga Virat Kohli NOT-OUT Tha': Navjot Singh Sidhu's Unfiltered Verdict On No-Ball Controversy

Virat Kohli's controversial dismissal against KKR left the cricket fraternity divided. Kohli was given out caught and bowled by Harshit Rana after he lobbed a high full toss back to the bowler. Kohli was certain that the ball was above the waist high and decided to challenge the call, however, the third umpire gave it out as Virat was out of his popping crease and the hawkeye projected the ball to be below the waist of Kohli had he was standing in his crease.

The decision left Kohli fuming as he vented out his frustration on the umpires. Several experts reacted to Kohli's dismissal and expressed their views on the controversial call. The latest to join the bandwagon is former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu who sided with Kohli and said that it was a clear no-ball.

‘Chhati thok ke kahunga not out, rules have been changed, the laws which are in the favour of the game must be upheld. It was a beamer, and whenever a bowler throws a beamer, he usually apologizes and when the impact of the ball occurs with the bat, it is almost 1.5 feet above, so I think the rule should be changed," Navjot Singh Sidhu said in a video shared by Star Sports.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis also gave his verdict on the Kohli dismissal and said he and Virat thought that the ball was above the waist high, however, adding that such things happen in the sport.

"It was crazy, rules are rules, Virat and I thought that the ball was higher than the waist (on Kohli's dismissal), I guess they measured from the popping crease, one team thinks it is high, the other doesn't. That is how the game goes at times.

Meanwhile, RCB suffered a close one-run defeat to KKR in a thriller. Chasing a target of 223, RCB were in command after Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks added a century partnership post the initial loss of Kohli and Faf du Plessis, however, RCB suffered a collapse and it came down to 21 in the last over, with Karn Sharma and Mohammed Siraj at the crease. Sharma hit three sixes off Mitchell Starc but was out on the penultimate ball as KKR clinched a close game. Earlier, 48 by Phil Salt and 50 by Shreyas Iyer helped KKR post a daunting total.

The defeat was RCB's seventh in eight games thus the team can't progress to the semis on its own. The best RCB can do is to win their remaining six games by big margins and hope that a few results go their way.
