Delhi University FSS Scheme has helped over 1,000 students: DU Official

Delhi University had introduced the Financial Support Scheme, FSS in November 2022. Since its launch, over 1,000 students have benefitted from the DU fee waiver scheme. As per DU officials, 80 percent of the students who applied have received a full waiver of their fees.

Speaking to PTI, DU's Dean of Student Welfare Pankaj Arora has stated that the DU FFS Scheme has helped around 1009 students.

The total benefits receivied by these students have amounted to a total of Rs 1 crore.

As per Pankaj Arora, a total of 1700 applications were submitted to DU. Out of which, around 1,009 students have been considered eligible for the fee waiver scheme.

“After due verification, which includes the home visit of the applicants, we shortlisted 1,340 students and asked them to submit some documents and undertakings. We have received the documents of 1,009 and we are pleased to inform you that the list of students for the disbursement of fee waivers is finalised," stated Arora to reporters.

Furthermore, the Dean of Students Welfare also stated that the DU FSS Scheme was inspired by the ideas reflected in the "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas" motto put forth by the Indian Government.

Delhi University introduced the Financial Support Scheme in November 2022. The scheme was introduced for students in the economically weaker section, EWS quota. Through the DU FFS Scheme, candidates were offered either a 50 percent fee waiver or 100 percent fee waiver based on their family income.

Students whose family income is less than Rs. 4 lakh would be eligible for a fee waiver up to 100 percent. Those whose family income between Rs. 4 lakhs to 8 lakh, would be eligible for a fee waiver up to 50 percent.
