Allu Arjun stated that K Raghavendra Rao’s directorial Gangotri was his debut film and it was a super hit.

However, he also admitted that he did not prove himself as an actor. “Gangotri was a super hit film, but somehow I wasn’t looking great in the film and did not get great offers subsequently. Personally, it is my failure as an actor that I couldn’t make my mark in the film. So it’s my mistake,” said Allu Arjun at the event.

How Arya Movie Started

Despite Gangotri being a blockbuster, Allu Arjun was without work for a year. During this phase, he used to listen to three stories a day on an average and used to watch films extensively. “My quest to look for out-of-the- box stories hasn’t ended. When I went to watch the premiere of a film, director Sukumar first saw me and narrated the script. I liked the script and was ready to do the film,” recalled Allu Arjun.

While all decks were cleared for the film, Arya, Allu Arjun and the team were still hesitant whether to go ahead with the film. That’s because the trio - Allu Arjun, Dil Raju, Sukumar - were all new to the industry. “When we were in a dilemma, it was director VV Vinayak who gave me the confidence that we could go ahead with the film and that Sukumar would be a great director,” the Pushpa actor recalled.
