Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi sent to 10-day NIA custody in connection with Sidhu Moose Wala murder case

New Delhi: The Patiala House Court on Thursday granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) 10 days custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The premier terror probe agency had appealed to the court that it needed Bishnoi's custody to question the gangster in connection with the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.

Bishnoi is currently lodged in Bathinda jail in Punjab. The Punjab Police had taken the gangster to the state from Delhi to question him in the singer Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.

Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.

"Material coming in from Pakistan, people like Moose Wala are targets. Larger conspiracy is being probed," the NIA told the court.

Bishnoi and his associates were wanted in a number of criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder and extortion.

Canada-based Goldy Brar had claimed he was behind the Moose Wala's murder. Brar is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Moosewala was killed when he was travelling in a jeep in Jawahar Ke village in Mansa. Six shooters waylaid his vehicle and fired bullets into him.

The NIA sources have said that Brar and Bishnoi gangs have contacts with Khalistani elements and Pakistan-based ISI agents.

Earlier, the National Investigation Agency had conducted several raids at various locations across India at the premises belonging to Lawrence Bishnoi, Kala Jathedi, Bambaiya and Kaushal Chaudhary in connection with the latest cases lodged against them.
