Glenn Maxwell OUT, 2 Overseas Players IN? RCB's Likely Playing XI For IPL 2024 Match Against KKR

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Kolkata Knight Riders in Match No. 10 of the IPL 2024 on Friday (March 29). The high-voltage match between the two star-studded teams, which also faced each other in the first-ever IPL match back in 2008, will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the last match played at this venue, RCB got the better of the Punjab Kings by four wickets, and on Friday once again, the team would like to come up with a big show and secure two points.

However, it won’t be an easy task for RCB to get the better of KKR, who won their tournament opener by four runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday (March 23). For the match against KKR, RCB could make a couple of changes to their playing XI. In place of star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, RCB could include England cricketer Will Jacks and replace West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph with either Lockie Ferguson or Reece Topley.

Joseph, who was signed for Rs 11.50 crore by RCB in the IPL 2024 auction, was smacked for 20 runs in the last over of the RCB-PBKS match played in Bengaluru on Monday (March 25). In the two matches played so far, the two-time IPL winner has conceded 38 and 43 runs in 3.4 and 4 overs, respectively.

Maxwell, on the other hand, got out for a golden duck in the first match against CSK and scored three runs from five balls against PBKS. However, he did pick up two wickets for 29 runs in three overs against the Punjab Kings. Looking at Maxwell’s recent form, RCB could consider bringing in Jacks, who, like Maxwell, is an aggressive batter and can contribute with the ball as well.

The 25-year-old English cricketer scored 108 runs from just 53 balls in his second last T20 match, which he played for the Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League last month.

The biggest positive for RCB this season has been Dinesh Karthik’s form. The senior wicketkeeper-batsman, who was horribly out of form last year, has scored 38 and 28 runs in the last two matches with a strike rate of over 200. The Bengaluru-based franchise will expect him to come up with a big show against KKR, which has a star pacer in the form of Mitchell Starc and three quality spinners in Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma.

RCB's likely playing XI for the IPL 2024 match against KKR:
Faf du Plessis (C), Virat Kohli, Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik (WK), Mayank Dagar, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal

Impact players: Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Akash Deep
