Hyderabad: Man, slits girl's wrist with blade in Osmania University, held

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a man after he attacked and slit the wrist of a girl. The incident happened in Osmani University on Saturday. Police said that the accused and the victim were known to each other and the incident happened after they got into an argument.

According to the police both of the people are in a relationship and they got into an argument regarding their relationship.

The argument escalated and soon became heated. It reached a point wherein the man who was carrying a blade in his hand attacked the victim with it and cut her wrist. The victim sustained deep injuries on her wrist and hands and was immediately rushed to the hospital where she had to undergo surgery.

The police said that the man, identified as Ranjith, and the girl have known each other for the past five years and are in a relationship. Both are residents of Musheerabad and the girl works in a pharmacy, Times of India reported.


Ranjith was arrested by the police and when he was interrogated, he told them that he and his girlfriend were had an argument because she did not want to continue with this relationship anymore. He said that he picked her up on Saturday night and the two drove on his bike to Osmania University to talk about their relationship. He said he was upset when she told him that she did not want to continue with this relationship and it was then that he attacked her with a razor that he was carrying in his hand. After injuring her he fled the spot. Meanwhile, the girl called her brother and told him about the attack.

Seeing the incident, some passersby took the injured girl to the hospital where her condition is said to be stable. The police managed to trace Ranjith and arrested him on Sunday night.

Police registered a case against him under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
