'If You Have Guts, Do Surgical Strike On China': Asaduddin Owaisi Dares Modi Govt

Sangareddy: Launching a no-holds-barred attack on the BJP-led Centre, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi dared it to carry out a surgical strike against China. The Hyderabad MP’s statement came on the backdrop of BJP leader Bandi Sanjay’s 2020 remark that they will conduct a "surgical strike in Telangana's Old City”.

Hitting back at him, Owaisi said, “They say a surgical strike will be done in the old city. Do a surgical strike on China if you have guts.” The AIMIM chief made the remarks during a public meeting in Sangareddy on Tuesday.

While campaigning for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls in 2020, Bandi Sanjay had said the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and AIMIM’s Owaisi were trying to win the civic polls with the help of Rohingya, Pakistani and Afghanistani voters.

Notably, India conducted surgical strikes against Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) in September 2016, as a response to a terrorist attack on an Army base in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The AIMIM chief and several opposition leaders repeatedly attacked the Centre over the simmering border tension between India and China. Last year, Owaisi had hit out at the BJP government after a fresh clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang Valley, and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scared of taking China's name. He earlier accused the Modi government of not giving an adequate response to Chinese aggression along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
