Indian-American Rohit Verma Appointed Dean of Top Business School in South Carolina

An Indian-American Business teacher Rohit Verma has been appointed as the dean of Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. He will take over this position starting from August 1, 2023.

Dr. Verma, a reputed name in business leadership, will join the school from Vinh University in Hanoi, Vietnam where he is currently serving as the founding provost.

He is also a professor of operations, technology and information management at Cornell University's SC Johnson College of Business. Dr. Verma also worked as dean of external affairs at Cornell's SC Johnson College of Business.

President of the University of South Carolina, Michael Amiridis said in the statement, "Dr Verma is an award-winning teacher, a successful researcher, and an innovative leader, and we are pleased to welcome him to the Carolina family,"

Verma has the reputation to lead top positions at Vinh University, awarded with the Excellent Leader Award in 2021. Emphasizing on his multi-dimensional approach, Verma said in a statement "From the very early stage in my academic career, I have taken a multi-disciplinary perspective and collaborated actively with colleagues from other fields. I hope to collaborate with all colleagues at the Moore School in ensuring that the school's core values are reflected and prioritized in all aspects of our work."

Verma has 75 articles published to his acclaim in prestigious academic journals with a number of reports written for the industry audience.

Verma is a bachelor of technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He received his Phd in Business Administration and MS Engineering from the University of Utah.
