Inner Manipur Constituency Lok Sabha elections 2024: key candidates, voter turnouts, election dates, major updates

Polling completed in Inner Manipur amongst ongoing violence in the state
The Inner Manipur Constituency is one of the only two Lok Sabha constituencies of Manipur. It is also the state’s only general category seat. As per the schedule, announced by the Election Commission, it was supposed to finish voting on April 19th but amidst the ongoing violence in the state that didn’t happen.


In eleven out of the thirty polling stations miscreants open fired and even destroyed the EVM’s leading EC to declare those elections as null and void. Reelections were conducted at those eleven booths on 22nd April amid heightened security. These places recorded an overall turnout of over 81% voters.

Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh- BJP candidate

Maheshwar Thounaojam-Republican Party of India (Athawale)

Moirangthem Totomshana Nongshaba- Rashtriya Janhit Sangharsh Party

Rajkumar Somendro Singh (Kaiku)- Independent candidate

Haorungbam Sarat Singh: Independent candidate

The main contest is between the BJP and Congress candidates in the Inner Manipur constituency.

Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat: 2019 elections
In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh a BJP candidate won the constituency by defeating his opponent from Congress Oinam Nabakishore by 17,775 votes.
79.04% of the total women voted in those elections while 83. 32% of men turned up to vote according to the office Chief Election Officer website. Therefore, the overall percentage of voter turnout was 81.26%.

Manipur state assembly election result 2022
Vidhan Sabha elections were held in Manipur in 2022 for sixty key constituencies out of which BJP won thirty, National people’s party won seven, Janata Dal (United) won six while Congress won five, Kuki People’s Alliance won two seats while independent candidates won three seats.
