IPL teams entertain fans with tic-tac-toe battle as rain washes out India v/s New Zealand match

"India won the toss and decided to swim first." Twitter is flooded with similar memes after India v/s New Zealand World Cup match was called off due to rain on Thursday.

While Indian fans waited at the stadium to support the Men in Blue until the match was officially called off, two IPL teams started another match on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore engaged in a tic-tac-toe war on Twitter. Rajasthan Royals' official Twitter handle tweeted, "@RCBTweets, it’s raining. You know what we mean?"

Since it did not seem that the match would start at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, the IPL teams took it on themselves to entertain the desi fans.

After taking two chances each, Rajasthan Royals said, "Hopefully the #CWC19 game between @BCCI and @BLACKCAPS will have a better outcome than this!"

Continuing the game, RCB tweeted, "You mean the outcome we are all hoping for? A #TeamIndia win, of course."

However, it turned out that the fans had to settle for a tie in the tic-tac-toe game too.

The IPL teams have been cheering for their players participating in the World Cup on their social media handles.

The teams had played the Twitter game earlier in May when an IPL match between the two teams was first reduced to 5 overs due to rain and subsequently called off after heavy rainfall continued.

This was the third match that was entirely abandoned in the World Cup tournament. Both New Zealand and India shared points and remain in the top three in overall standings.
