Jaideep Ahlawat On Glamorising Violence In Shows Like Paatal Lok: 'Even Makers Know...' | Exclusive

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat's next project The Broken News Season 2 sees him an egotistical news reporter Dipankar. In the web series, also starring Sonali Bendre and Shriya Pilgaonkar, we see how the truth can be manipulated for one's own purposes. The actor has been working in the industry since 2010, but his big breakthrough came with the lead role in Amazon Prime Video's

Paatal Lok in which he plays the role of a Delhi police officer Hathiram Chaudhary who uncovers the dark secrets while investigating a high-profile case.

Jaideep Ahlawat on violence in Paatal Lok The actor, along with his co-stars Bendre and Pilgaonkar, stopped by for a chat with Zoom where he addressed the comments about the glamorisation of violence with Paatal Lok. When the show first came out, Ahlawat revealed that he would look at the all the comments on social media. Ahlawat went to say that while people had sent him viewers' comments about violence on the show, he had not read or seen them personally. The actor also added people were entitled to their own opinions.


Ahlawat did clarify and say, "We cannot glamorise violence. Even the makers know there is a limit to showing the degree of violence onscreen. It will look weird. Even the Censor Board will never allow you to show the real violence that exists in the society, so it’s not possible to glamorise it. You cannot even show five per cent of it."

The actor will be returning to play Hathiram Chaudhary later this year with co-star Ishwak Singh on Paatal Lok Season 2
. In the first season, the characters played by Ahlawat and Singh investigate the capture of four suspects Vishal Tyagi, Tope Singh, Mary Lyngdoh, and Kabir M, with violent backgrounds who are charged with conspiring to murder the Delhi's top journalist.

About The Broken News Season 2 The drama series features the rivalry between two top Mumbai news channels Awaaz Bharati and Josh 24/7. Ahlawat, Bendre and Pilgaonkar play characters who have their own styles while presenting the news. Directed by Vinay Waikul, The Broken News Season 2 will premiere on May 3 on Zee5.
