The much-awaited teaser trailer for Joker: Folie À Deux has finally arrived. A sequel to the 2019 film Joker, which earned actor Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar, Joker 2 also stars Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Directed by Todd Phillips, the teaser trailer for the film, which is slated for release on October 4, has widely been lauded by fans on social media.

A number of netizens took to X, formerly Twitter to laud the teaser trailer for the Todd Phillips film. "What. A. Brilliant. Trailer," shared one user, while a second wrote, "Literally every single frame is poetic #Joker2". A third person commented, "The second part looks incredible 👍 #JokerFolieADeux #Joker2 #DC" while a fourth shared, "joker 2 cinematography is STUNNING".

Director Todd Phillips premiered the footage at CinemaCon, the annual gathering for movie theater owners. Despite the original Joker in 2019 being presented as a standalone film, Phillips revealed that he and Phoenix had always discussed the possibility of a sequel.


"We had a deep affection for Arthur's character but were cautious about not disrupting the success of the first movie," Phillips explained, as per a report in Variety. "We chose Gaga because she brings a magical quality to her roles."

Details about the sequel's plot remain scarce, although it's rumored to be a jukebox musical. Phillips clarified that while it will include musical elements, it's not solely a musical production.


Joker 2 is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after the original.
