Kohli, Pandya IN, No Samson Or Rahul: Irfan Pathan Picks T20 World Cup Squad, Makes A Massive Blunder

The India Squad for the T20 World Cup will be announced this week. The squad selection is set to present numerous challenges to the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee as multiple challengers are competing for a role in the 15-member squad. It would have been easier for the selectors if the tournament was played before the IPL but since it will held right after the IPL, the performance in the biggest T20 league can't be ignored.

Players like Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have made a strong case for themselves after stunning performances, whereas, stalwarts like Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohammed Siraj have failed to live up to the expectations.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan recently revealed his India squad for the T20 World Cup on Star Sports. The squad includes veteran Virat Kohli, whose place has been questioned by several critics. Ahead of the IPL, there were rumours that selectors didn't want Kohli in the T20 World Cup squad, however, the RCB star made a massive statement by topping the charts of most runs so far. Irfan also had Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad. Abhishek Sharma has done well in IPL and a few wanted him in the squad, especially with Yashasvi Jaiswal not in great form. However, Jaiswal made a return to form in Rajasthan Royals' last game against Mumbai Indians and scored a brilliant hundred. Pathan also kept Shubman Gill in the squad as another opening option.

Irfan Pathan's squad also includes MI captain Hardik Pandya, who has been very ordinary in IPL 2024. Pandya has also not bowled much after which it was speculated that he may struggle to find a place in the squad. However, Pathan thought otherwise and picked Pandya in the squad. The former India cricketer also picked Shivam Dube, who has been sensational for CSK this season, scoring over 300 runs. What's surprising in Irfan's squad is that he only picked Rishabh Pant as a wicketkeeper-batter in the squad thus if Rishabh Pant has to sit out of a game, India don't have another wicketkeeper option.

As for spinners, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal found a place in Pathan's squad while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh were the fast bowlers.
