Kolkata-bound Air Asia flight makes emergency landing in Lucknow after bird hit

Lucknow: An Air Asia flight from Lucknow to Kolkata made an emergency landing at the Lucknow airport on Sunday after suffering a bird hit.

The Kolkata-bound flight returned to the Lucknow airport after it suffered the bird strike shortly after the take-off.

The number of passengers on board the flight could not be immediately known.


A spokesperson of the airline said that the plane was grounded for a detailed inspection after encountering the bird-strike.

"Flight i5-319, scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Kolkata, encountered a bird-strike during the take-off roll. As a result, the aircraft returned to the bay and was grounded for detailed inspection," the spokesperson was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.




Earlier this month, a Paris-bound flight made an emergency landing at Delhi airport after developing a technical snag.

In October last year, a Bangalore-bound Akasa Air flight returned to Mumbai airport following a bird strike. The flight was forced to return to Mumbai due to a burning smell in the cabin, caused due to the bird hit.

The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai and all passengers were deboarded.

Earlier in September last year, a Delhi-bound plane with 135 passengers onboard was forced to land at the Kannur International Airport after suffering a bird hit soon after take-off.
