Parthiv Patel Slams RCB Star, Calls Him 'Most Overrated Player' In IPL History

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Prathiv Patel took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a tweet about star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who is playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL 2024. In his tweet, the former RCB, MI, and CSK stumper slammed the 35-year-old Maxwell by calling him the most overrated player in the history of the IPL.

“glenn maxwell….HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of ipl…#IPL2024 ….,” Patel tweeted after Maxwell got out for four runs from three balls during the IPL 2024 match between RCB and Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru on Saturday (May 4).

In the ongoing IPL 2024, Maxwell has been horribly out of form. In eight matches played so far, the right-handed batter has only managed to score 36 runs at an average of 5.14 and has dismissed five batters.

Maxwell has been playing in the IPL since the 2012 season and has represented the Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings as well before joining RCB in the 2021 auction. But apart from doing well in three seasons, he has majorly underperformed and has not done justice to the big sum of money franchises pay to acquire his services.

In his first season with the RCB, Maxwell, who played a big role in Australia’s ODI World Cup win in 2023, scored 513 runs in 15 matches, because of which he was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions. But in the last three seasons, he has again failed to do justice to his talent.

He was dropped from RCB’s playing XI in the ongoing IPL 2024 after he failed to score runs in the initial matches but was included once again after a short break. But despite that, he has not found his mojo back.

RCB moves to 7th

RCB was up against GT in match No. 52 of IPL 2024 on Saturday, and thanks to a superb bowling show from Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal, it managed to win the match by four wickets. The win over GT was RCB’s third win in a row, and with a total of 8 points from 11 matches, it has now moved to No. 7 position in the points table.
