Pratik Gandhi Says Do Aur Do Pyaar Is An 'Unexpected Journey Filled With Surprises' - Exclusive

In Do Aur Do Pyaar, Pratik Gandhi takes another leap of faith. In a film that belongs primarily to the female protagonist (Vidya Balan), the Scam actor makes ample space for himself, displaying a range that would have made his Gujju colleague Sanjeev Kumar proud. Watch Pratik in the sequence in which he pretends to be playing football with a Japanese delegate to fool his ladylove on the phone.

Priceless! Pratik takes time off to talk about why Do Aur Do Pyaar is special.

I just love your new film. Vidya and you are the new-age Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar from Aandhi?

Thank you! Do aur Do Pyaar is a rom-com that shows new age complexities of relationships. My character is absolutely different from my previous film Madgaon Express and I have tried to offer newer and different aspects of myself to the audience. Both the films are directed by first-time film directors which is another exciting factor me and hopefully for the audiences too.

How would you describe Do Aur Do Pyaar?

All I can say is that it’s a modern rom-com, and every contemporary romance comes with its own complexities. The audiences are in for an unexpected journey filled with surprises, laughs and confusion. It’s something everyone will relate to and it’s very entertaining. I’m really happy with the way it has shaped up.

And what performances. Not just you and Vidya, but also the others?

The film has an incredible cast with such accomplished actors like Vidya Balan, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Ileana D’Cruz. And that’s been the most exciting part of this journey. Working alongside such accomplished actors in a multi-star cast film has been enriching. There is so much to learn from each one of them. They brought their unique energy to the set, and we all ended up becoming friends. The relationships which one takes home, are priceless.

This is your third major association with Applause Entertainment?

My association with Applause Entertainment and Sameer Nair on tent-pole projects like Scam 1992 and Gandhi has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. Every time I work with them on a project it feels like a homecoming. They have undeniably been a huge part of my journey as an actor. Collaborating with them along with Ellipsis Entertainment on Do Aur Do Pyaar has been just as fulfilling and enriching too. With this film I am getting into rom-com world. I can’t wait to see how audiences react to this shift in my career.

How do you view your journey so far?

Well, my journey so far is more than fulfilling and satisfying as I could explore varied genres and unique characters in all the films I have done. I am really happy and grateful to all the directors and producers of all the films I have done so far that they didn’t put me in any bracket and gave me opportunities to push myself to explore and display range of emotions and characters to the audience. My heart is full of gratitude.
