Rajasthan shocker: Minor girl raped by distant relative in Jaipur, probe launched

Jaipur: In another incident of sexual assault against minors, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a distant relative in Rajasthan's capital city Jaipur on Thursday. The accused had reportedly visited the house of the rape survivor on February 2.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Mahesh Nagar police station.

The girl's parents lodged a police complaint against the accused on Saturday after the minor girl narrated her ordeal to them, reported The Times of India.

At the time of the incident, the girl was alone at her home. The accused also reportedly threatened the girl not to tell anybody about the incident. The minor girl told her mother everything in the evening.

"On February 2, the incident took place when the girl was alone and our relative was also at home. In the evening, she narrated her plight to her mother. The accused had threatened her to keep mum or face dire consequences," said a senior police officer of Mahesh Nagar police station as quoted by TOI. The police have launched a detailed probe into the matter.

In a similar incident that took place last month, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her relative in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on January 12. The girl's father and the accused are farmers. The accused often used to visit the rape survivor's home. The accused reportedly took the girl to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her.
