Shah Rukh Khan And Eid

When we think about Eid in Bollywood, our thoughts gravitate towards Salman Khan. With Wanted, Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and many more blockbuster films ruling the box office during Eid, it's no surprise that Salman has become synonymous with the festival. However, let's take a detour from the usual Salman parade and shine the spotlight on another Khan this Eid.

We're talking about none other than Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan. With this next venture releasing on Eid 2025, let's take a walk down memory lane.

Let’s start off with My Name Is Khan! On the surface level, the film appears to be about Rizwan Khan, a man with Asperger's syndrome who sets out to meet the President of the United States, after the death of his son, in an attempt to eliminate Islamophobia. However, we also gained an understanding of Muslim culture from the film. This Eid, let's toast to SRK for not just entertaining us, but also making us more knowledgeable with this masterpiece.

Remember Kabir Khan from Chak De! India? A Muslim man accused of being a traitor simply because his team lost a hockey match. While Kabir Khan did not appear to do anything Islamic in the film, we did catch glimpses of him praying to Allah.

Fast forward to Raees, where Shah Rukh Khan effortlessly spilled into the shoes of Raees Alam, a Muslim man who rises from the streets to become a formidable figure. While the film wasn't released on Eid (it was postponed due to Salman Khan’s Sultan
), it would have been a perfect Eid release. From the stunning visuals to the powerful messaging, everything about the film was stellar. Let's not forget Pathaan, where Shah Rukh Khan took on the role of a secret agent! Another Eid, another reason to celebrate the versatility of this cinematic maestro.

But wait, there's more! Who can forget that iconic pathani kurta dialogue from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham? "Arz karta hoon, na Lucknow da kurta, na Pathani salwar, marrd hai vo jo dil de, varna hai bekaar," the actor had said as he tried to woo Kajol's character. Besides winning over Kajol's character, he won over the hearts of every female in India with that dialogue.

So, while Salman Khan may have claimed his throne as the Eid box office king, let's not overlook the Khan who's been quietly weaving magic with his performances. This Eid, let's raise our glasses to Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood!
