Shraddha Walkar murder: With 'site map' chalked out, Delhi police conduct fresh search at Aftab Poonawala's residence

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday are conducting another round of searches at Shraddha Walkar murder accused Aftab Poonawala's Chhatarpur residence.

The police team is on the lookout for any clue to nail the man accused of the brutal murder of his live-in partner. Hence, they returned to the residence having done their homework.

The investigators chalked out a site map on Tuesday -- marking areas to prioritise during Wednesday's searches.

The cops had visited the apartment shared by Shraddha and Aftab no less than three times in the course of the investigation. It is expected that blood marks could be found in the apartment despite Aftab making desperate efforts to cover his marks. Aftab had used hot water to wash the blood off the corpse, and blended chemicals with water to eliminate stains from the flat, news agency ANI said.

Meanwhile, a friend of the accused and the victim, who was reportedly close to them both, reached the police station and recorded a statement.

Earlier, the team had taken a vacuum cleaner for testing after blood stains were noticed in some parts of the house.

Aftab and Shraddha had shifted to the house in Chhattarpur on May 15 -- three days before the murder.

Aftab used a constantly running water tap to cover any butchering sounds from reaching outside. He used hot water to wash the blood off the corpse, and blended chemicals to eliminate stains from the apartment. According to the police, Aftab allegedly burnt Shraddha's face and cut her head off after strangulating her to death. He intended to ensure that the skull remains unidentifiable.
