'Virat Kohli Vs Gautam Gambhir': In-Form RCB Star Makes CHEEKY Remark Ahead Of Match Vs KKR In IPL 2024

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will look to continue their winning momentum at their home in M Chinnaswamy Stadium as they take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in an electrifying encounter. KKR have made a vital addition to their coaching staff this season, as their two-time IPL-winning captain Gautam Gambhir joins them as the team mentor.

This means that Gambhir would be in the KKR dugout when Virat Kohli takes the field for RCB. There is a storied history of rivalry and on-field spats between Kohli and Gambhir in IPL history, and now Dinesh Karthik too has made a tongue in cheek remark regarding the same.

In a video posted by the official X account of RCB before the match of March 29, Dinesh Karthik was asked which matchup he was looking forward to the most. To this, the in-form RCB batter said that he was looking forward to the battle between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir the most with a wry smile. Karthik also said that he was looking forward to Glenn Maxwell taking on Mitchell Star, and was also excited about his own battle with Tamil Nadu teammate Varun Chakravarthy.

"Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir (smiles). Mitchell Starc to Glenn Maxwell will be very interesting. Varun Chakravarthy to me (Dinesh Karthik) will be very interesting," Karthik said in the now viral video.

Virat Kohli Vs Gautam Gambhir Dominated Headlines In IPL 2023
After Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants in a low scoring thriller at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in IPL 2023, Virat Kohli and then LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir got into a heated altercation that grabbed all the headlines more than the actual match. It was pacer Naveen Ul Haq who started the fight, an it escalated after Gambhir got involved in it. This spat took the IPL 2023 by storm.

In an interaction on a podcast with ANI, Gautam Gambhir said that it was his job to defend his player, which in this case of Naveen Ul Haq. He also took another shot at Kohli saying that someone who has a broadcaster working for him and has great social media presence does not have the right to walk over someone.

"It is not about Naveen-ul-Haq. I would have defended any player, that is my job, that is how I am. Why should I not defend my players just because someone has a broadcaster working for him, left right and centre, someone who has more social media presence doesn't have any right to walk over someone. If I cannot stand with my players, then I have no right to be in that dressing room," Gambhir had said.
