Who Is Lee Ozmint? Arab High School Football Coach Sent Obscene Photo To Student

Lee Ozmint, the head football coach of Arab High School, in Arab, Atlanta, was arrested after allegedly sending/ soliciting obscene photos with a current male student at the school. Arab Police Department confirmed that Ozmint was arrested Thursday (April 25). He has been released on bond.

On Friday, April 26, Ozmint resigned from his position at the school.

Arab City Schools' Board of Education convened on Friday to formally acknowledge Ozmint's resignation, as reported by Emily Moessner of News 19. After accepting Ozmint's resignation, the school board said in a statement that Ozmint "remains on administrative leave and is not allowed on any campus."

Lee Ozmint faces allegations of misconduct as a school employee, accused of distributing or soliciting obscene material to a student under 19. This charge, classified as a class A misdemeanor in Atlanta, resulted in a standard bond amount of $500 being set.

Since 2019, Lee Ozmint has served as the football head coach at Arab High School. Under his leadership, the team has achieved a 38-18 overall record, and four consecutive playoff appearances. Before Arab, he coached Oxford High, Glencoe High and Gadsden High.

In the 2022 season, Arab Knights boasted an impressive 11-2 record, dominating six regional opponents with a staggering score of 248-57. This performance earned Arab the privilege of hosting a Class 5A playoff game, with East Limestone visiting.

The statement from the school read:

"Earlier this week, Arab City Schools officials were made aware of unprofessional and inappropriate communications between an Arab High School teacher and student. As soon as the administration was made aware of the allegations, Arab City Schools officials contacted law enforcement and launched an internal investigation."

"At this time, the teacher remains on administrative leave and is not allowed on any campus. Once the team completes its investigation, they will work with the Superintendent to determine the best course of action for resolving the situation, including any applicable disciplinary action for the teacher," it added.
