War of words escalates between Omraje & Sawant in Osmanabad

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The war of words between public health minister Tanaji Sawant and sitting Shiv Sena (UBT) MP from Osmanabad Omraje Nimbalkar has intensified during the ongoing Lok Sabha campaigning.

In a fresh attack, Sawant, who belongs to the Sena camp led by chief minister Ekanth Shinde, targeted Omraje over repeatedly raking up the issue of his father’s murder.

“Every time he keeps saying ‘my father was killed.’ What is the point in this? People voted for you to be an MP and not to keep raking up the issue,” Sawant said during an election rally at Barshi in Solapur district that comes under the Osmanabad constituency.

Omraje’s father Pawanraje Nimbalkar was murdered in 2006. Former NCP MP and seven-term MLA Padamsinh Patil, whose daughter-in-law Archana is a BJP candidate from Osmanabad Lok Sabha, is an accused in the case.

Earlier, Sawant had accused Omraje and his deceased father of spelling doom for the local cooperative bodies.

Omraje had then retaliated without mincing any words and said, “I overpowered Padmasinha Patil and his son. Sawant is just a minnow.”

The sitting MP, who is yet to respond to a fresh attack by Sawant, had also warned the Sena leader against taking the name of his deceased father.

Notably, Omraje had defeated Ranajagitsinha, Padmasinha Patil’s son in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Earlier, he had won against Ranajagitsinha in the 2009 assembly elections, but later tasted defeat at his hands in the next assembly poll.

Osmanabad Lok Sabha seat, where polling is scheduled for May 7, is witnessing a direct fight between Omraje and Archana.
