17 crorepatis in fray in four LS seats: Data

Bhubaneswar: There are 17 crorepatis in the fray out of the 37 candidates contesting from the four Lok Sabha seats that will go to polls in the first phase on May 13. The three major parties — Congress, BJP and BJD — have four crorepati candidates each while two candidates are found to have nil immovable assets.

According to data compiled by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Odisha Election Watch (OEW), apart from the 12 crorepatis from the three major parties, one each is from Naba Bharat Nirman Seva Party and Bharatiya Bikash Parishad and four are independents.

The average assets per individual candidate contesting in four LS seats is Rs 3.7 crore. While the average assets of the four BJP candidates together is over Rs 13 crore, while that of BJD and Congress is over Rs 3 crore each.

There are three candidates, who have been shown to be the ones with low assets by OEW and ADR with no immovable assets.
