Man dies after injecting drugs

Chennai: A 22-year-old man died on Thursday after injecting diluted painkiller tablets. Police said the deceased, G Gokul, 22, of Pulianthope was brought to his parents, unconscious, by his friends. They said he had suffered a fall in a public toilet. Gokul’s mother took him to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for further treatment, where he was declared brought dead.

Investigations revealed that Gokul had been injecting painkillers for the past two years. On Thursday night, he was on the playground near Thattankulam taking those painkillers with his friends, said police.

An investigation officer said, “we are yet to confirm the drug he had administered that turned lethal.”tnn
