Chhath Puja celebrations in Hebbal Lake

With people from different parts of India living in Bengaluru, it’s no surprise that the city also witnesses a host of festivals almost all through the year. Cut to the most recent one, a host devotees descended in the waters of Hebbal Lake to celebrate Chhath Puja – an ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya.

It’s a Vedic festival often observed by the people of Bihar , Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh . The god of light, energy and life force is worshipped for well-being and prosperity.
