Delhi-Howrah Express train to halt at Jamtara stn

Dumka: BJP MP Sunil Soren and Congress MLA (suspended) Irfan Ansari jointly flagged off the New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express from the Jamtara railway station on Saturday to mark the stoppage of the train at the Jamtara.

The Railways introduced the stoppage of the train at the Jamtara railway station, which was a long-pending demand of local residents.

The stoppage has been introduced on an experimental basis for the next six months.

Addressing the gathering, the BJP MP said stoppages of more long-distance trains along this route, including the Vibhuti Express, which is plying between Sealdah and Baliya, would be ensured in the coming days.

He added, “The direct connectivity to New Delhi, Kolkata and other places will augment the socio-economic development of Jamtara district in terms of felicitating direct access of local produces and products to bigger markets.”

In the recent times, the Railways has introduced several projects to improve the connectivity in the Santhal Pargana region.

The new Godda-Pirpainti broad gauge line will also be constructed at a cost of about Rs 1,384 crore.

Godda BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also said, “The Railways will initiate the land acquisition process for this ambitious rail line soon.”

He added that after the state government refused to bear 50% of the cost, the Railways has decided to bear the entire cost for this new rail line project.

“It shows the Centre’s priority for the Santhal Pargana,” Dubey said.

Other railway lines on the anvil in the Santhal Pargana region include Godda-Pakur, Madhupur-Dhanbad and Madhupur-Giridih.

On November 12, a new Godda -Sealdah train was flagged off from the Godda railway station.
