Erode to house world's tallest Bairavar statue
Erode: The world’s tallest Bairavar statue is coming up at Rattaisutripalayam Avulpoondurai in the district. And this means Rattaisutripalayam would soon find a place in the Guinness World Records .
Sri Vijay Swamiji , founder, Bairava Peedam Trust, said the statue of Swarnagarshana Bairavar would be 73ft tall.
He said the temple would be a replica of Bairavar Temple in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. “That temple is situated on the banks of Ganga, while this temple is situated on Hanuman canal - a channel of Lower Bhavani canal. There are plenty of similarities between both the temples. Hence we have named it South Kasi.”
Pointing to the 64 forms of Lord Shiva , he said Bairavar was the fiercest of all. “To recall all the 64 forms, we have constructed 64 forms of Bairavar on the temple premises.”
The temple would also house a panchaloha idol of Swarnagarshana Bairavar, weighing 650kg, for special puja.
While there are plenty of Bairavar temples in the country, no temple has such a tallest Bairavar statue. This is the tallest Bairavar statue temple in the world. The temple management has approached the Guinness World Records,” Vijay Swamiji told TOI.
