Gagneja case: Charges to be framed against Johal, 7 others in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: A New Delhi-based Special NIA court on Friday ordered framing of charges against eight accused, including British national Jagtar Singh 'Jaggi' Johal , for the killing of Brig Jagdish Gagneja (retd), vice-president of Punjab unit of Rashtariya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

The latter was fired upon on August 6, 2016, late evening at Jalandhar, and he died a month and a half later at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.

The main suspects were arrested in November 2017.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur , counsel for the four accused, including Johal, said that arguments were heard by the Patiala House special NIA court of Additional Sessions Judge Shailendra Malik and then the court ordered framing of charges against the eight accused.

"Charges will be framed against Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh Bagga under various sections of the IPC, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Arms Act," said Manjhpur.

Accused Dharminder Singh Gugni, Anil Kumar Kala, Manpreet Singh and Ravi Pal were charged under the Arms Act.Johal was arrested by Punjab Police on November 4 from Jalandhar.
