Gujarat government to hire 1,239 schoolteachers

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat government will soon begin a drive to recruit 1,239 teachers for staterun secondary schools. The drive is part of the state government’s larger plan to recruit 7,000 teachers for grant-in-aid and government-run secondary and higher secondary schools. The process was postponed due to the assembly bypolls in Gujarat in October.

“Candidates can apply from November 21 to November 30. Only those who have cleared the Teacher Aptitude Test (TAT) 2018 will be eligible,” said a Gujarat government official.

In all, there are 1,236 teaching positions for Gujarati-medium schools and only three posts for English-medium schools in the upcoming recruitment drive. Sources said that there are 416 vacancies for maths and science teachers, 374 for social studies teachers, 353 for English teachers, and 68 for Gujarati teachers.
