Hyderabad gets respite from heavy rains on 4th day, yellow alert continues

HYDERABAD: Two days after heavy spell of rains, the city now saw moderate rainfall at several localities in the city for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal- Malkajgiri districts.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Bandlaguda Jagir and Lingojiguda areas witnessed the highest rainfall of 3cm.

Hayathnagar, Bavani Nagar and Nagole saw 2cm of rain. Low lying areas in Old City and Saroornagar witnessed waterlogging as GHMC's emergency monsoon teams were put in action to pump out water and desilting works.

The rest of the city witnessed one centimetre rain in the afternoon. District-wise data notes that Kodakandla village in Jangaon district witnessed the highest rainfall of 11.6 cm while Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts got 9cm to 6 cm of rain.

IMD predicted moderate to heavy rains in city on Friday. Yellow alert issued for districts Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda,Janagaon, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy , Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. Orange alert issued for Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri , Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Medak.
