CHANDIGARH: Stuck at home, Chandigarh's youth thought of promoting the habit of wearing masks. They craft it with their colourful bandanas under the 'Mask Pehnega Chandigarh' initiative.

Members of Rotaract Club Chandigarh Shivalik made masks that young people find "beautiful", "creative", "cool", and "trendy". They made it with material available easily at home. Making best use of lockdown time, the Rotaractors glamoured up their masks to amplify the users' style quotient.

They claim to make more than 200 masks a day. Other Rotaract clubs of Chandigarh are being invited to join this initiative. Rotaract Club Chandigarh Shivalik president Shashank Kaushik said: “I enjoyed making masks for family and donating the spare ones. We will keep this initiative alive and make wearing masks a trend, a healthy habit, as long as this pandemic lasts.”

These stylish masks are also given away to the poor peope who don't have protective gear. Rotaractor Ramneek, who came up with this idea, said: “The initiative is to be creative and make the mask contemporary instead of boring and dowdy.”

Club general secretary Garima Madan said: “If the masks are trendy, it will make us want to wear it. We youngsters are attracted to stylish products and this is definitely the way to go if we want to promote masks. People should feel confidence moving out with their masks on.”
