Sita Sahu takes oath as Patnamayor for the second time

Patna: District magistrate Chandreshekar Singh on Friday administered the oath of office to 75 ward councillors of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), followed by Reshmi Chandravanshi for deputy mayor and Sita Sahu as mayor, at Hindi Bhawan here on Friday. Both the posts of PMC were reserved for women. This time the people directly voted for both the posts.

Sahu has become the mayor for the second time. Meanwhile in Gaya, DM Thiyagarajan SM administered oath to new mayor Virendra Kumar alias Ganesh Paswan and the deputy mayor Chinta Devi and 52 other ward councillors. Altogether 43 representatives from all over Nawada district, including Nagar Parishad president and vice-president, were administered oath by Nawada DDC and SDO. In West Champaran, DM (in-charge) Anil kumar administered the oath to elected mayor Garima Devi Sikaria, deputy mayor Gayatri Devi and 46 elected ward councillors. In East Champaran, DM administered oath to Priti Kumari as mayor, Dr Lalbabu Prasad as deputy mayor. Similarly, the newly elected Ara mayor Indu Devi, deputy mayor Punam Devi and 45 ward councillors took oath in Bhojpur.

Samadhan Yatra itinerary revised: CM Nitish Kumar ’s ongoing Samadhan Yatra’s itinerary has been revised from January 17 onwards. According to a notification issued by the cabinet secretariat department, Nitish would now visit Jehanabad and Arwal, instead of Supaul, on January 17. Similarly, he would visit Buxar and Bhojpur on January 18 and 19, respectively. On January 20, he will visit Nalanda instead of Kishanganj. On January 21, he would visit Gaya instead of Katihar. On January 22, the CM will visit Nawada instead of Khagaria where he would visit on January 28. Nitish would now visit Supaul on Feb 1, Saharsa on Feb 2, Araria on Feb 3, Kishanganj on Feb 4 and Katihar on Feb 5. Similarly, he would visit Banka on Feb 6 and Kaimur on Feb 7.

Two held for making extortion plan: Patna police on Thursday evening arrested two boys outside Saidpur hostel, who along with dozen others were planning to extort money in the name of Saraswati Puja. Two of them were identified as Raushan Kumar of Arwal and Sameer Kumar of Nawada. During the interrogation, it was found that they were also planning a murder which had a link with the extortion of money they had planned.

8 criminals nabbed in Madhepura: Eight members, including two women, of a criminal gang were arrested from Rahta and adjoining villages, and a cache of fire arms was recoveredfrom their possession at Rahta village under Kumarkhand police station in Madhepura district on intervening night of January 12-13. The criminals were hiding at the house of gang leader, Raja Kumar.

₹50,000 looted in Bagaha: One Dhirendar chaudhary of Sirsiya village under Naurangia police was looted of ₹50,000 in cash while he was withdrawing it from the Bagaha branch of Punjab National Bank.
