State force jawan beaten to death in row over food

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawan was beaten to death by four employees of a roadside eatery in Parbhani district on Friday allegedly after he asked for his food to be delivered quickly.

Shaikh Azgar, 33, from Kedi village in Aundha, Hingoli district, was set to travel to Mumbai on Friday but he took a last-minute detour to Jintur in Parbhani district to visit some relatives, police sources said.

According to preliminary investigation, Azgar stopped at a roadside joint to have breakfast before visiting his relatives.

He asked the staff to bring the khichdi that he had ordered early, and this resulted in a heated argument between him and the waiter, police sources said.

The sources said the four accused brutally assaulted him, killing him on the spot. Parbhani superintendent of police Ravindrasingh Pardeshi identified the assailants as eatery owner Sheshrao Awhad, his son Amol, and their employees Balaji Rankhambe and Imran Qureshi. “The four accused have been booked and arrested for allegedly killing the man by brutally assaulting him with wooden logs used as fuel at the food joint. Further investigation is under way,” the superintendent of police said.
