West Bengal gets fresh stock of Covishield

Kolkata: The state has got fresh stock of Covishield doses that will be used for booster jabs. The state had run out of Covishield by mid-December and hence those who turned up at the government CVCs were getting only Covaxin as the precaution dose.

“Now we have got 1.5 lakh doses of Covishield and those who had been waiting for this vaccine for taking the precaution jab can get it from the government CVCs.

In Kolkata, recipients can get it from the CVCs attached to medical colleges,” said Ashim Das Malakar , state family welfare officer.

Even as there was a sudden spurt in demand for Covid vaccine in the beginning of January when the health ministry had alerted about a possible surge, prompting some private hospitals to procure fresh vaccine stock, the demand has gone down gradually. On a daily average, about 500 are taking the jabs in Bengal.
