Women Soudha staff get dedicated lounge

BENGALURU: Thursday was special for the women workforce at Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha as an exclusive lounge to cater to their needs was thrown open.

The lounge, built under the ambitious Project Rashmi of Bengaluru Smart City Limited (BenSCL), was inaugurated by additional chief secretary, urban development development, Rakesh Singh , in the presence of chief secretary Vandita Sharma .

K Srinivas , managing director, BenSCL, said this is the fifth lounge built in government offices as part of the project. Women staffers can use the lounge as a waiting room or a place to eat lunch.

Sources revealed more than 2,000 women work in the corridors of power, ranging from the chief secretary to the those in police security. "There was no dedicated place for women to relax.

The lounge will help pregnant women, lactating mothers and other women staffers. The lounge is equipped with wall-mounted flap-type kids seat, sanitary napkin incinerator, napkin vending machine, mini fridge, oven, TV, AC and is a space for relaxation and entertainment," Srinivas said.
