Youth arrested with MDMA in Kerala

KOCHI: A 23-year-old man was arrested by the excise special squad in Ernakulam after seizing around 5gm of MDMA and 3gm of ganja from him on Sunday. The arrested was identified as Liyon Reji of Nilampathinjamugal at Kakkanad. The excise officers said that the accused had a Siberian Husky dog to guard him in his room and the accused allegedly tried to hurt the officers using the dog.
The officials said that he was arrested in a risky operation early on Sunday.

According to the excise, Reji was under surveillance for over a week based on the information that he was selling drugs in the Infopark area. He started staying for rent in a house near Thuthiyoor four days ago after identifying himself as a techie. However, he rarely got out of the house even for buying food and relied on online services. He made the transactions for drugs online and then sent them to the customers. The excise team led by CI Sajeev Kumar traced him based on the info collected from one of his customers.

“As the dog was inside the room, we could not catch him initially. But later we forced open the door and diverted the dog’s attention. He seemed to have been under the influence of drugs and was aggressive when we caught him,” said an excise official.

A case has been registered against him under various Sections of NDPS Act and the accused was remanded in judicial custody.
