PGIMER team apprises Ludh street vendors of food hygiene practices

Ludhiana: Working in collaboration with the municipal corporation (MC), a team from the community medicine department of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh organised a workshop for street vendors at MC zone-A office on Thursday.

The aim was to spread awareness among the street vendors regarding health and hygiene.

MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon also participated in the workshop. During the workshop, the street vendors were appealed to keep their surroundings clean and dispose of the waste generated at the vends properly.

PGIMER team member Jasvir Kaur and dietician Kamalpreet Kaur apprised the street vendors of the ill-effects of consuming tobacco.

Zonal commissioner Sekhon said that the workshop was organised on the directions of MC commissioner Sandeep Rishi. Bank officials also participated in the workshop and apprised the street vendors of different schemes under which loans can be availed by them.

Certificates and kits were also distributed among the street vendors.
