Satyagraha by civic groups in Mys today for good governance; AAP offers support

Mysuru: Several civic organisations and activists will hold a voluntary satyagraha to demand good governance from 9am to 6pm on Sunday. Among political parties, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has extended its support.

The satyagraha will be led by Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP).

The organisers appealed to every Mysurean (except essential service providers) to stop using vehicles between 9am and 6pm on Sunday.

“Locals are planning to hold meetings from 9am to 10.30am in over a dozen parks. One major issue which will be discussed in these meetings is why we failed ourselves,” said Bhamy V Shenoy, one of the organisers. “We requested everyone to discuss why educated people are not participating in elections, which has resulted in many problems we are facing today,” he said.

The main demands of the activists are good and safe roads, removal of footpath encroachment, lake conservation, and protection of parks.

Meanwhile, mayor M Shivakumar said he is not aware of any Satyagraha.tnn
