Villager attacks youth in Karnataka's Maddur

MANDYA: In a daring attack, a villager attacked a youth in a public office in Maddur on Tuesday. However, he was nabbed by the public, who handed the attacker to the police after beating him black and blue.

The incident happened at Maddur taluk office around 2pm. The police said enmity between the attacker and the victim led to the incident.


Nandan, from Maraliga village in Maddur taluk, attacked Channaraju with a machete, the police said. He is now undergoing treatment at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences hospital.

Channaraju had come to the Maddur taluk office on some work related to his farm land. Nandan, who had followed him, threw chilly powder on him and attacked him with a sharp weapon.

Channaraju cried for help even as public overpowered the accused. Channaraju was immediately admitted to the government hospital in Maddur and later taken to Mandya hospital, the police said, adding they have taken the accused into custody. A case has been registered in the Maddur town police station.
