Reliance Jio launches 5G services in city

Nagpur: Reliance Jio launched its 5G services in the city. Nagpur is among the 10 cities in which the services were launched on Monday. The other city in the state to have got the service in the current launch is Ahmednagar.

So far, Jio’s 5G services have been launched in 85 cities of the country. Users in Nagpur will now get a welcome offer to use the service with no additional cost, a press release said.

Sources said that the mobile users having a 5G mobile set will be given the invite so that they can activate the services. The penetration will be increased in the coming days as the number of towers would go up, said sources.

Mobile users will, however, need to have 5G mobile sets for availing services, said sources.

The cities where the services have been launched are key tourism destinations and education hubs. It is expected that the services will give a boost to sectors like e-governance, automation, artificial intelligence, gaming, health care and even agriculture, said the company’s press release.

Jio5G has the advantage of standalone 5G architecture, with nil dependence on the 4G network, said the press release.

The company also boasts of the best mix of 5G spectrum across 700 MHz 3500 MHz and 26Ghz bands.
