Role of veterinary docs hailed in hiking country's milk production
Nagpur: The Nagpur Veterinary College (NVC) at the Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) celebrated World Veterinary Day on April 27 with a message about veterinarians’ crucial role in the country’s milk production.
The event marked a significant milestone with the launch of ViMoZyme, an innovative enzyme product developed by VNIT Nagpur in collaboration with NVC and NDDB.
Another highlight was the launch of MAFSU Min, a commercial mineral mixture developed by MAFSU itself. This product aims to improve animal health and productivity, further contributing to the socio-economic well-being of livestock farmers.
The event, held in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), National Agricultural Research Institute (NAWAR), Venky’s India Ltd., and the Animal Husbandry Department, highlighted the dedication and expertise of veterinarians in ensuring animal health and well-being.
The theme of World Veterinary Day 2024, “Veterinarians are essential health workers,” resonated throughout the event. Dr S Regupathi, Executive Director of NDDB, emphasized the vital role veterinarians play in relieving the pain and distress of animals, often referred to as “godsend” by farmers. Dr Niteen Patil, Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the sacred bond between veterinarians and farmers. He also commended veterinarians for their significant contribution to uplifting the lives of livestock farmers.
The event featured informative technical sessions with lectures delivered by esteemed guests, including Dr Sukhdeo Barbuddhe, Director of ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, and Dr Vijay Tijare, General Manager of Venky’s India. The event also saw the release of MAFSU’s newsletter, keeping the attendees updated on varsity’s initiatives.
